Elemental Fridays: A Decade Ago…

ElementalFridays

As most of us know, or should know, it’s pretty crazy how long heavy metal has been in existence. It’s never too late to metal out and whether you’re an up and coming youngster or an old headbanger at heart, let’s travel back a decade and see what were some of the highlights from a decade ago.

Personally, the mid 2000’s were right around the time I really started getting into metal. Here we are ten years later and I am still learning more and more as I think we all are honestly. What were the highlight albums from 2007 you may ask? Some of these names you may know and some you may not but that’s what we’re here for; to get as much metal out possible to you loyal readers.

2007 brought not only some iconic and memorable albums but deaths, new names and names that returned after hiatuses and/or breakups. I believe the biggest event of 2007 was Dimmu Borgir’s album, In Sorte Diaboli, reached No. 1 in their native Norway, the first time an extreme metal album has reached number one on any chart for that matter. But whether you remember Led Zeppelin’s reunion, Anette Olzon joining Nightwish, the whole Gorgoroth name dispute or anything, 2007 was surely an interesting year.
