Metal by the Letter – C

In this series, I am reviewing my music collection and selecting my favorite band for each letter of the alphabet. It might be Thrash, Death, or Power Metal, or maybe a Hard Rock band. I suspect this will be easy for some letters and more difficult for others. In the comments, let me know your favorites.

Doomsday – Depictions of Chaos

I’m a bit late on this review, but after a couple of listens, I thought it would be good to share this album with you. Doomsday, from Oakland, CA, hit my inbox late last year. It took me a few weeks to get around to listening to it, but I was happy that I finally did.

The Bay Strikes Back Tour at The Pageant, St. Louis, MO

The tour featuring Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel rolled into St. Louis and proceeded to destroy. A fantastic show all around with no frills – just good old Thrash Metal. Be sure to catch this tour when it blasts into a venue near you. Check out some photos from the show below.

Overkill – The Wings of War

overkill_wings_warAh, Overkill.  If there is a band out there that has stuck to their roots as vehemently or for as long as the Jersey boys, I don’t know of one.  With album number 19 (!), Overkill continues their sonic assault on the Metal world and prove to be as heavy as ever.

Death Angel – Humanicide

death-angel-humanicideDeath Angel is on a roll.  Humanicide is the band’s 9th (10th if you count The Organization) album, but their 6th in the last 15 years.  Were it not for the 14 year break between Act III and The Art of Dying, we might be talking about the 12th or 13th.  I say they’re on a roll because their last 6 have been stellar, to include this one.

Flotsam and Jetsam Live in Salt Lake City

F&J Tour

It had been close to 30 years since I last saw Flotsam and Jetsam in concert.  The last time was on the When the Storm Comes Down era while I was in college.  Although the band hasn’t gained as much notoriety as they probably deserve, they still bring the Metal. Threat Signal – Disconnect

Threat-Signal-Disconnect-01.jpg

The 2000’s brought on a plethora of modern metal acts in which some of those bands brought fusion to the metal forefront. It’s been six years since their last release and boy it’s been long awaited.  Continue reading “Threat Signal – Disconnect”

Album Review: Noctem – Haeresis

Image result for Noctem - Haeresis

Easily one of the heaviest and most extreme albums I’ve checked out in a while, Spanish metallers Noctem, continue their devastating and unfathomable terror on the masses with their latest album. If you’ve been looking for something shocking, brutal and barbarous to sink your teeth into, this will appease that metal appetite and leave more than just a terrified mark.  Continue reading “Album Review: Noctem – Haeresis”

Featured Video: Trivium – Dying In Your Arms

AscendancyDam, I can’t believe it’s been ten years almost to the day since Trivium’s, Ascendancycame out. Man, where has the time gone? I remember when this album came out, it actually was one of the pivotal albums, one of my stepping stones into the world of metal, which is why I feel the need to share this with We Love Metal. Their sound has changed significantly, from rough and raw thrash and melodeath to heavier thrash and blast beats and more. Six albums later, a minor lineup change, having their music featured in video games, I would say Trivium has accomplished quite enough on their end. Kerrang! magazine awarded this album, Album of The Year in 2005 as well as the group’s first Gold album in The UK. With each album that they release, I notice there is one element or one genre that themes and is heavily present on each album. If you’re not too familiar with them, they sound similarly to Lamb of God, a little In Flames and Killswitch Engage. They take heavy influence from the old school metal giants like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and many other well-known names. According to lead man, Matt Heafy, they have a group of haters, I am not sure why but hey at least the haters give them exposure too. Anyways, the Florida-based quartet still is around to this day and are due to release their next album later this year. In regards to this track, it’s pretty much just straight up metal, nothing crazy aside from the large mosh pits seen, it’s probably my favorite track off this album. So in honor of the tenth anniversary of Ascendancy we bring you back, Dying In Your Arms. Stay Metal m/
